Are “Softer Towels Always Better” After Industrial Laundry Processing?

The idea that "the softer the towel is after being washed by a laundry factory, the better" is wrong.

The best towels after industrial washing should feel soft and fluffy. Both softness and fluffiness are important qualities, but if the factories only focus on making towels soft and ignore fluffiness, their customers will have a bad experience.

Laundry factories usually use softeners when washing towels. These softeners are made of cationic surfactants and softening agents. Some factories blindly use too much softener just to make towels feel soft. Some even use industrial soft sheets (meant for the textile industry) to make towels extra soft.

Problems: If Only Chasing Softness

● Messy Appearance: Over-softened towels have loops that become too soft and lose their shape. The towel looks messy and loses its fluffiness.

● Uncomfortable Feel: Too much cationic surfactant makes towels feel slippery and greasy when used, especially in summer. Cheap cationic ingredients can even irritate the skin.

● Bad Water Absorption: Softener residue on the towel surface makes it less absorbent.

● Bacteria Growth: Less fluffy towels don’t breathe well. If stored improperly, they can grow bacteria and smell bad.

● Hard to Clean Later: Too much softener residue makes future washes harder. Over time, towels turn yellow or gray and can’t be cleaned properly.

How to Check If Towels Are Washed Well

Factories should care about how users feel. A good towel must:

● Feel clean and soft

● Have neat, upright loops to stay fluffy

● Not feel prickly or greasy on the skin

● Absorb water quickly

Remember: Towels aren’t just for touching—they need to be comfortable to use.
