Many bosses of laundry factories in China believe that the cleaning efficiency of tunnel washers is not as high as that of industrial washing machines. This is actually a misunderstanding. To clarify this issue, first of all, we need to understand the five major factors that affect the quality of linen washing: water, temperature, detergents, washing time, and mechanical force. In this article, we will compare the degree of cleanliness from these five aspects.
Water
Laundry factories all use purified soft water. The difference lies in the amount of water they consume during washing. Washing with the tunnel washer is a standard washing process. When the linen enters, it will pass through a weighing platform. The amount of washing each time is fixed, and the water is also added to the standard proportion. The main washing water level of the CLM tunnel washer adopts a low water level design. On the one hand, it can save chemical detergents. On the other hand, it makes the mechanical force stronger and increases the friction between the linen. However, for industrial washing machines, the amount of water to be filled each time does not go through a very accurate weighing process. Many times, the linen is filled until it can no longer be filled, or the loading capacity is insufficient. This will result in either too much or too little water, thereby affecting the washing quality.
Temperature
When the linen enters the main wash section, in order to maximize the effect of the melt, the washing temperature should reach 75 to 80 degrees. The main washing chambers of the CLM tunnel washer have all been designed with insulation to reduce heat loss and keep the temperature within this range all the time. However, the cylinder of industrial washing machines is not insulated, so the temperature during washing will fluctuate to some extent, which has a certain impact on the cleaning degree.
Chemical Detergents
Since the washing volume of each batch of the tunnel washer is fixed, the addition of detergents is also in accordance with the standard proportion. The addition of detergents in industrial washing machines is generally carried out in two ways: manual addition and addition using peristaltic pumps. If it is added manually, the amount of addition is judged by the employees’ experience. It has not been standardized and is highly dependent on manual labor. If a peristaltic pump is used for addition, although the amount added each time is fixed, the washing amount for each batch of linen is not fixed, so there may also be situations where too much or too little chemical is used.
Washing Time
The time for each stage of the tunnel washer, including pre-washing, main washing, and rinsing, is fixed. Each washing process is standardized and cannot be interfered with by humans. However, the washing efficiency of industrial washing machines is relatively low. If employees artificially adjust and shorten the washing time to improve efficiency, it will also affect the washing quality.
Mechanical Force
The mechanical force during washing is related to the swing angle, frequency, and the angle at which the linen drops. The swing angle of the CLM tunnel washer is 235°, the frequency reaches 11 times per minute, and the load ratio of the tunnel washer starting from the second chamber is 1:30.
The load ratio of a single machine is 1:10. It is obvious that the diameter of the inner washing drum of the tunnel washer is larger, and the impact force will be stronger, which is more conducive to dirt removal.
CLM Designs
In addition to the above points, the CLM tunnel washer has also made other designs in terms of cleanliness.
● Two stirring ribs are added to the plate surface of the inner drum of our tunnel washer to increase the friction during washing and improve the cleaning quality.
● Regarding the rinsing chamber of the CLM tunnel washer, we have implemented counter-current rinsing. It is a double-chamber structure, with water circulating outside the chamber to prevent water of different cleanliness levels from circulating between different chambers.
● The water tank is equipped with a lint filtration system, which effectively filters out impurities such as cilia and prevents secondary pollution to the linen.
● Moreover, the CLM tunnel washer adopts a highly efficient foam overflow design, which can effectively remove impurities and foam floating on the water surface, thereby further enhancing the cleanliness of the linen.
These are all designs that a single machine does not have.
As a result, when facing the linen with the same level of dirtiness, the cleaning degree of the tunnel washer will be higher.
