Lint Shedding in Industrial Laundry Facilities: Causes and Solutions

Cause of the problem

  1. Insufficient rinsing: In order to save costs, some industrial laundry facilities do not rinse new towels or only rinse them once and then directly dry them, resulting in the floating hair on the surface of the towels not being fully rinsed off.
  2. Excessive washing load: If the washing load exceeds the standard capacity of the machine, the linens will be unevenly stressed during the washing process, increasing the friction between the fibers and causing the surface cotton fibers to fall off.
  3. Washing time is too long: A Washing time that is too long will increase the friction between fibers and cause the surface cotton fibers to fall off.
  4. Improper drying: If the temperature is too high, the speed is too slow, or the time is too long during drying, the fabric will be over-dried, the fibers will become brittle, and excessive lint will be produced.

Solutions

  1. Rinse thoroughly: When rinsing the towel for the first time, wash it at medium water level and 70°C for 10 minutes, then rinse it at high water level 3 to 4 times to ensure that the floating hair is fully rinsed off.
  2. Control the amount of washing: each load should be in line with the load capacity of the washing equipment to avoid overloading or underloading.
  3. Reasonable drying: The drying time should not be too long. After drying to 80% dry, use cold air to restore the elasticity of the fiber. Or choose a dryer with a humidity control system to monitor the dryness and humidity of the towel in real time.
  4. Normal lint treatment: It is normal for a new towel to have slight lint when washed for the first time, which will fall off automatically after multiple washings.
