In the previous article, we shared the four key points with you. The first key point is to identify the fabrics of the textiles and know the types of materials. The linen fabrics of the hotel are quite simple, generally pure cotton, pure polyester, or fabric blended with cotton and polyester. The component of the fabrics will all be on the label of the linen, so the identification of fabrics is quite simple, but the categories of the stains are various.
Generally, we divide stains into normal stains and special stains. What are the differences between these two?
Normal Stains
● Water-soluble stains
● Non-water-soluble
● Protein stains
● Pigment stains
● Acid, alkali, salt, and oxide stains
Special Stains
● Medicine stains
● Fabric color bleeding and cross-staining stains
● Other stains
Characteristics of Different Stains
❑ Normal stains
● Water-soluble stains
After dry cleaning, the water-soluble stains cannot be washed thoroughly.
● Non-water-soluble stains
They are generally oil-based stains that cannot be removed after water washing.
● Protein stains
They mainly refer to the blood stains, milk stains, meat juice stains, and other protein-containing stains.
● Pigment stains
It includes the water-soluble and non-water-soluble pigment stains, such as dyes, pigments, other substances with pigments, ballpoint pen ink, lipsticks…
● Acid, alkali, salt, and oxide stains
It mainly refers to floor stains on fabrics, rust stains, and oxides of other metals… In addition, acidic fruit juice and vegetable juice also fall into this category.
❑ Special stains
● Medicine stains
They are stains on ointments of Chinese and Western medicines and decoctions of Chinese herbal medicines. Due to their complicated ingredients, they are hard to remove.
● Fabric color bleeding and cross-staining stains
It is difficult to remove this kind of stain because different kinds of dyes have different coloring principles. Some stains were removed before, but after the fabric was exposed to the air and oxidized, the stains reappeared.
● Other stains
In spite of the above seven kinds of stains, the others all belong to the category of other stains. In modern life and work, we come into contact with various substances. Especially when some mixtures of substances stain fabrics, it is even more difficult to accurately define their types.
