Prevention of Linen Damage

In the laundry and transportation process of the linen in laundry plants, the linen damage can be caused by a nonstandard process. In previous articles, we analyzed three common reasons for linen damage. Then, how to prevent it? We will continue to share.

Precise Prevention and Control System

❑ Chemical control

● Build a pH value dynamic monitor system (±0.5 accuracy)

● Reduce the dosage of the bleach and strictly control its amount to avoid the linen damage caused by excessive bleach.

● Implement a zoned washing system. Wash heavily soiled linen separately from regular linen, and distinguish the amount and concentration of the separated fabric.

❑ Equipment Maintenance

● Regularly check the components like the belts of the conveyor, steel buckle, baffle, and so on. Replace the parts with burrs or sharp corners in time to avoid scratching the linen.

● Regularly check tools like the linen cage trolley and short-distance transport shuttles to ensure that there are no sharp corners or burrs on the surface to reduce damage to linen in the process of transportation.

❑ Correct use of laundry equipment

● The gradient control of pressing pressure level

Set pressing programs according to different fabrics of the linen, like pure cotton, cotton-polyester, pure polyester, and so on.

● The loading volume

When people use industrial washing machines, they should pay attention to the loading volume. Loading according to the specified loading capacity of the laundry equipment can avoid the problem of overloading, which can damage both the linen and the machines.

❑ Full-process digitalization

Introduce an RFID tracking system to fully know the washing times of the linen and service life, and establish the life cycle management of the linen.

Verification of Implementation Effectiveness

After a laundry center implemented this plan:

● The annual linen purchase cost was reduced by 2.17 million yuan. (Decreased by 31% year-on-year)

● The customer complaint rate dropped from 1.8% to 0.3%.

● The downtime due to equipment failure was reduced by 65%.

● The average service life of a single piece of linen has been extended to 380 times (the industry average is 280 times).

Conclusion

This solution provides a quantifiable quality control path for the laundry enterprise by establishing the three-dimensional management system “mechanism analysis – Process control – Intelligent monitoring”. It is suggested that the enterprises should establish a continuous improvement mechanism by combining the ISO 9001 quality management system to keep the linen loss rate within 5% at the advanced industry level.
