In previous articles, we’ve introduced why we need to design recycled water, how to reuse water, and counter-current rinsing. At present, the water consumption of Chinese brand tunnel washers is around 1:15, 1:10, and 1:6 (That is, washing 1 kg of linen consumes 6kg of water) Most laundry factories attach great importance to the water consumption of tunnel washer systems for washing each kilogram of linen because high water consumption means increased steam and chemical consumption, and the cost of soft water treatment and sewage charges will increase accordingly.
Water Conservation and Its Impact on Steam and Chemicals
The recycled water is usually rinse water, which is often used for the main wash after being filtered. A CLM tunnel washer has 3 water recovery tanks, while other brands usually have 2 tanks or 1 tank. CLM also has a patented lint filtration system that can effectively filter and remove lint, so that the filtered water can be directly recycled and reused. During the main wash, the water needs to be heated to 75-80 degrees. The temperature of the discharged rinse water is generally above 40 degrees, and there are some chemical components in the rinse water. In this case, the water temperature required for the main wash can be achieved by simply heating and replenishing chemicals appropriately, which greatly saves the amount of steam and chemicals needed for heating the main wash.
Importance of Insulating the Main Wash Chambers
During washing, the temperature of the tunnel washer is important. It is generally required to be 75℃ to 80℃ and wash for 14 minutes to make the detergents have a good performance and can remove the stains. The inner and outer drum of the tunnel washers are all stainless steel. Their diameters are about 2 meters and they have strong heat discharge ability. As a result, to make the main wash has a fixed temperature, people should insulate the main wash chambers. If the temperature of the main wash is not stable, the quality of the washing will be hard to ensure.
At present, Chinese tunnel washers generally have 4-5 chambers insulated, and only single chambers are insulated. The other heated double-compartment main washing chamber is not insulated. The CLM 60kg 16-chamber tunnel washer has a total of 9 insulation chambers. In addition to the insulation of the main washing chambers, the neutralization chamber is also insulated to ensure that the chemical materials can always play the best effect and ensure the washing quality.
